we are less than a baby away...

Well everyone, yesterday was VDay, and that means we are less than 8 months away from having a lovefest.

I can't believe it's almost here! I can't believe that 3 and a half years ago, Dave and I were at that Korn concert, and I can't (can!) believe we got a little tipsy . And then went to look at vendors. And then bought matching rings...But what really blows my mind, is that he TOLD me that meant we were geting married.

Sometimes I think maybe I suckered him into it, baby aside (kidding!!!!)..But really, I was very "do it, you won't!" about it.

Nevertheless, whether I challenged him to it
("You can't just TELL me, you have to ASK me!!"), or he thought it was a great idea at the time, we wanted a long engagement because of our very short courtship beforehand. We knew what we wanted, but we didn't exactly need it just yet.

And now it's basically here. I remember thinking "You'll be over 30, and I'll be as old as you are now (27)!!! HAHAHA!!!!"...and now I'm in the middle of planning out outing for Dave's 31st birthday, and my 27th was this past January.

Sonofabitch, it's all coming along...

Let's take a look at what we have done, what we are doing, and WTF, shall we?

-WWdone: Dress is bought, hemmed, and paid for! It came with a jacket and purse, so theres that. And my veil is good to go as well. Jewelry is also a non issue. SWEET! No naked wedding nightmares.
*WTF- I ned my crinoline (!!!!!!), hose, garter and shoes.
-WWdoing?: googling LOTS OF STUFF.

-WWDone-Signed a photography contract.
-WWdoing- saving dough!
-WTF?!- still need to figure out a locale for photographs. Oh, and engagement sesh.

-WWdone- researched centerpieces.
-WWdoing-googling.
-WTF?!- I should probably order those. Lots of glass.

-WWdone- Booked a band and DJ!
-WWdoing- gonig to see them in March
-WTF?!- I need to work on a playlist. I friggin hate most music a DJ would play, like, anything that came out in 2010.

WWdone- had a splendid idea about Save the Dates, and have spoken with a wonderful graphic artist about designing them.
WWdoing- notmuch
WTF?!- my dad is the worst at addresses and a list.

WWdone-found an inexpensive way to get fabulous invites
WWdoing- wording, designing, and waiting for the pastor to ok my time.
WTF- I'M SAYIN!!!

WWdone-booked jacques, like, forever ago.
WWdoing- scrimping and saving.
WTF- lots of money in April.WTF indeed.

And that's about the long and short of it. Again, we can't really afford something huge, so there are definitely a lot of people who we would love to invite, but we just can't.Just know that this process has been stressful and difficult...but we do plan on having some post-wedding festivities at the place where it all started <3.
(If you don't know where that is, t's Jackie Keelen's Bar) It may be odd to have wedding celebrations at a bar, but we feel welcome there and it is very much like a home. The family has been very good to us since we first met, and like i said- that's where we met! So it would make sense to get hammered at that bar about 5 years after we first met there.

So if we can't see you at the wedding, we better see you at the bar!!!!...Or at ComicCon on Saturday.

Jeeze people, its just a wedding.

That title may be a tad misleading. Because clearly I'm going to be eyeballs deep in taffetta come October.

But people really do need to calm down about weddings. It's a celebration of love, and a formal commitment between two people, a declaration to the world what you already know in your hearts- that two people love each other. That they would die for the other, share the lives, fears, and dinners.

So when I see a moustachioed Bridezilla on TV treating her FH like garbage, screaming it's her day- I get annoyed. It's your day, and by YOUR day, I mean the collective you. It doesn't matter if one of your bridesmaids eyebrows aren't perfect, because guess what honey, you aren't perfect either. But some wackadoo DOES think you ARE perfect...''If I were you, I'd be worried that your walkalloverme groom shows up. Yousa cranky lady.

And I'm tired of certain righteous celebrities claiming that they will get married when "everyone" can. So, what you are saying is, you, as a perfectly perfect and rich couple who can afford the most lavish celebration of love, have the absolute right to get married, you won't? So you are just abusing your right to get or not to get married? That's cool. You'll probably get divorced soon after anyway. Meanwhile, a perfectly happy homosexual couple, who have been living together for years, and are just aching to gain the same legal rights that you are eligible for, sit at home wishing they had your opportunity.

The "institution" of marriage HAS, oddly enough, come a long way from the days of continuing lineage and trading daughters for cows. It's now a way where people can officially and legally share their lives, bank accounts, and healthcare. I also see it as an unbreakable contract between two people. "I love you, you love me, and we'll die together.....deal? deal. high five. (or kiss, whatever)."

So calm down, it's just a wedding. It's two people (or in my own case, a daddy, a mommy, and a tiny human) coming together as a family, one united front against the world.

and ps- i picked up my gown, and the entertainment is coming along nicely.thankyou.

uh, yeah, she's gonna be the queen.

Ah, Chelsea Lately, you and your round table are my favorite. If i could register for tickets to see Chelsea Handler and friends and their standups, I would. And you'd buy them for us.

Speaking of registering, Dave told me that I registered for dumb crap. I told him that I gave hm the option of going to the store with me and zapping crap with a gun, and he said no.To which he replied, well, we're going to have to fix things, and get rid of your inane shit....or something along the line that. Then I told him that this is another example of times when he says i can do things, and then after its "done," he swoops in and does it his way.

Except this time, it was my way all along, doing it together.Point for the missus!
I think it was the slap chop that got him. Or the panini maker. I hope it wasnt the bake and take cookware, because he can obviously suck it if he thinks that piece of gold is coming off.

Also, this morning at work, I had to be there at 10am for a meeting, and then back at 12 for my bar volume (til 8...), the meeting was only a half an hour, so i went back home in between, at which time we consolidated the lists we both wrote into one list, and I called my dad to pester him to write his.

SO I AM APOLOGIZING IN ADVANCE: if we can't invite you,we're truly sorry. Our budget and space is limited, and we may not be able to invite everyone we had originally hoped. It doesn't mean we don't still care about you, it just means BASICALLY that becausemydadispayingwehavetoinvitemorefamilywenevertalktoinsteadofpeopleilikespendingtimewit h.
It's that old Italian thing: you only see each other on weddings, christenings, annnnnnnd funerals.

Is there any other news? Not exactly. We're getting down to the friggen wire, and we are going to need to hire a DJ, sign a contract with Phoenix Studios for photos, (PS AWESOME idea for where we are going to take at least 3 photos),we need to select a florist and what flowers are doing, OH might hire a band for 5 minutes....
we cant afford a lot, but we are going to work with what we have to do what we want, and to make it as "US" as possible.

Loveeeeee you.

absolutely not.Except we are gettign down to the wire

But I was Hoping You'd Write My List...

Nope. haha!

So lots of productive things happening this week! Still on a super-high from purchasing my dress the other day, and last night at Pathmark there were lots of halloween things on sale, like 35 black silk roses with black stems and black leaves, ans fuschia glitter on the petal tips.I think that spending less than 7 dollars on 35 roses is not an impulse buy. I have no idea what i'm going to so with these, but i dont care. I'll totally find something.

On Friday AM, Dave suggested to me that we start writing our guest list (which is LIMITED). I told him that I wrote mine...like...months ago. He told me he was kinda hoping I'd write his list.

Saturday I come home, and his D&D crew were over, so i pretty much just went to bed. Then Sunday morning while I was cleaning up some papers before work, i saw a piece of lined paper on top of the TV...He wrote his list! Hooray! We spent some time talking about it, and now all we have to do is get my dad and cathy and his parents to write their lists, and then dave and I can start to narrow things down and get addresses and send stuff out.

HOORAY!

Speaking of which....I need to email the pastor again. <3

after a few fights and some sitdown discussions....

Dave went to Jacques yesterday to speak with Steve, the owner, and explain that we may not end up getting married there cuz we don't have as much to work with as we'd like. Not that my dad wasnt generous, things are a little tight on our end.

Steve worked with Dave on some things, and let us use a package that isn't usually available this time of year.

AWESOME.

Dave said that going there reaffirms that he really wants to have the reception there, not just blame it on me.

So yay! We might be able to swing a honeymoon now(YAYYYY!!!!!!), AND we can invite people that we want to invite- it was starting to be a very "intimate" guestlist...We've started working on the guestlist (aka: I wrote mine, and Dave suggested we start writing it, and he assumed I wrote his LOL!!!!)

I'm going later today for my first fitting (YAY!!!!) and I'm going to try not to cry.

So without getting too much accomplished, we are at a GREAT place in planning right now! Our awesome Save the Dates, which our friend LeeAnn is helping us design, will be printed up soon. Bridesmaids dresses are right around the corner as well, and Isabella (my beautiful niece and flowergirl,) let me know that she wants a hotpink dress (done, lil monster!!!)

and also, this is going to be the most badass amazing wedding ever.

Just over 11 months to go!!!!!!
